Review of Blade Runner

Movie Review

1. Title of the Movie:Blade Runner

2. Main Characters: Rick Deckard, Roy Batty,Rachael,Tyrell, Leon Kowalski, Zhora, Pris, and J.F. Sebastian

3. Setting(s) of the Film: A dystopian Los Angeles in 2019, where the Tyrell corporation has developed Genetically manufactured people, called replicants. The replicants are used for dangerous jobs on other planets, and colonies. After a small replicant uprising, replicants are deemed illegal on earth, and the blade runner unit is established to "retire" Replicants. To ensure that replicants wouldnt become self aware, The Tyrell Corporation developed a 4 year lifespan so they would just die eventually.

4. Brief Description of the Plot (in your own perspective): A retired blade runner, " Rick Deckard" , is called in by his old chief, after a highly dangerous group of replicants is discovered on earth. Throughout the film, Deckard chases down and destroys all four of the replicants, and he discovers that the replicant group was just trying to expand their own life, and live peacefully.

5. How is the world in the movie different from the world in real life? For one, the world in "Blade Runner" is far more advanced technologically. It has flying cars, Robotic humans, and space colonies.

6. Why do you think this world was created (in the perspective of the people in the film)? The world was created to make things easier for other humans, so they wouldn't have to suffer with arduous tasks such as manual labor, and driving.

7. How does this movie question or challenge our ideas about what is ideal? Well, it challenges our ideas about what is ideal in the sense that people are playing god. You cant just go and create/ destroy life forms.

8. What ideas do you get from this film for your own ideal world movie? Two Words; Flying Cars.

Keither-Gatherer

A day in the life of a hunter gatherer would be awesome, it would be like frontier land at disneyland, but real... After i wake up, i would go outside and dust for animal tracks, then fix a breakfast of squirell meat and berries. after breakfast i would go and hunt for about an hour. i would deal with the animal pelts, then take a big nap! then goes dinner, then a dessert of bear. then goodnight moon.

The Good, The Bad, And The Photo

The Good

Photobucket

This is the good photo i believe, because it has all of the key elements that i explained in class today, it has clarity, focusing on the cactus. Contrast , lots of nice different colors, and light. Emotion, it reminds me of a nice relaxing day at home, and finally Perspective, it was taken a little sideways, from above, and in macro mode on the camera to emphasize the cactus

The Bad

Photobucket

I think this is a rather poor photo, it is blurry for one, it has no contrast,or good angles. Although it does have an emotional style of dreary or glum. i also think its a bad photo because it has no good lighting, and its really boring. you cant also really tell what it is, unless you are a guitar fanatic, or you took the picture. but then again the interpretation is up to the viewer.

Van Halen 2007 Tour Commercial

http://youtube.com/watch?v=xIntpv66EgI

1. What do I see?

I see all of van halens old music videos, EVH, david lee roth, wofgang van halen, and alex van halen all jamming as if it were the 80s. The video is in black and white for the majority of it, and there seems to be almost no new pictures of the band.

2. Who created this message?

Van Halen, and Live Nation Productions

3. What creative techniques are used to attract my attention?

they use a monster truck guy voice to get me pumped for a van halen concert, even though i think those voices are really bogus. they also use the fact the eddie van halen is one of the best guitarists in the world, to make me wanna go and buy van halen tickets.
4. How might different people understand this message differently than me?

People who arent interested in van halen might not care about this message, or they might just turn off the tv. thats the thing about advertisement, if its an awesome ad, it should have the ability to totally change someones opinion on another thing.

5. What values, lifestyles or points of view are represented, or omitted, in this message?
Rock and roll is definitely a key value in this commercial, but where isnt it a key value?? i thought so. another value is entertainment, if people werent entertained by the band then there would be no need for the commercial.

6. Why is this message being sent?
this message is being sent to advertise an upcoming concert tour for van halen, so basically they are trying to sell me tickets.

7. Finally, how can I review my insights and summarize my ideas about the message?

The commercial was made for the sole purpose of getting me to buy tickets for a van halen concert.

Turnstyles

I see a very large woman, in a purple Moo-moo, she is wearing eye glasses. She has very curly hair, even though she has corkscrew hair, she is very square. I think before she went through the turnstyle, she had just run a mile. She reminds me of a very sweaty roseanne barr, that went through a pregnancy and decided not to rest. Her facial expression is reminiscent of someone whos just witnessed a death.

Ruler of the world

if i were the ruler of the world, i would improve us-mexico relations by using the same plan as my affirmative case, i would make it easier for people to immigrate legally, and i would make it harder to illegally immigrate/smuggle drugs. the best offense is a great defense! i would also use money to stop poverty, world hunger, and eliminate north korea.
